How to prepare for CAT in 3 months?

    The CAT 2018 notifications are out the exam will be held on November 25th 2018. So, if you are a CAT aspirant and planning to appear in the CAT 2018 examination then it's time that you start your preparation, if you haven't already.  The first name that pops up in the mind when someone talks of doing MBA is IIM's. Usually it is said that 6 months time is ideal for CAT preparation. However, there is no thumb rule as to how much time is enough for CAT preparation.     English and Vocabulary

    Firstly, the paper demands good English and in order to gain excellence. To improve your skills in this area you can opt for reading. Regular reading wherein you focus on editorials and business section in the newspapers would not only help you acquire and improve your vocabulary but would also be helpful during your GD/PI rounds. It would also help you determine your areas of strengths and the parts of business world that are interest you. Having a good reading speed can also help you gain an edge over others while solving the verbal ability part of the CAT exam. A critical understanding of the variety of topics that you come across would facilitate better acknowledgement of the routine happening in your surroundings.

    Quant Section and Timed Papers

    Next, as early as you can, you should start with the quant section preparation. There are a number of topics to be prepared and with several weeks in your hands you can plan per week schedule, leaving just enough time towards the end to revise all the concepts. In the beginning, it would be best to analyse the skills through available online mock tests and then start the preparation. This would help you to understand the areas of your weaknesses and the ones that need more time than the other topics. You do not have to necessarily give your entire day to the topics as divided by you, instead you can simply decide the number of hours you would put in along with setting the target of covering the topic within stipulated time. In the later stage, you can shift to timed papers and by the D-day you will be all set to complete the quant section within the set limits.

    Segregation and Daily Schedule

    In addition to the planning and starting the preparation whenever you can, it is important that proper segregation of time is done and this all is written down properly. This helps in keeping the things in line and allows you to see through the things in detail. A head start in the preparation would allow you to include a bit of fun like brainteasers in your daily schedule. The logical problems and decision-making situations can be a boost to the IQ levels and would also provide you with a better understanding about the real-life situations. In the same line, you can attempt DA and DI papers online and identify the core areas of strength. This will help you prepare the topics that you find boring while giving you enough time to strengthening your interests.

    The time to start your preparation for the big exam is now and if you get set on it, you will have enough time to figure out everything about the exam while appearing for mock tests a several times. The idea behind this is that you should be able to gain confidence and stay motivated till the end. It is important that you steer clear of the new concepts, that is, if you would be left with any. There is nothing that can get in your way of scoring high marks in the paper.
