The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) planned to discontinue the practice of issuing the blue prints, sample question papers and marking schemes in all major subjects for classes IX and X from the Summative Assessment – 2 of the current academic session, 2012-13.
The board decided to disband the process after noticing that a large section of students and examiners follow these documents, and that in turn results in debarring of open-ended approach and diversity in expression, style and content.
The weightings in the new format will be assigned to entire units as an alternative of chapter wise weighting given earlier. The designs would be made more flexible instead of a detailed blue print.
The SA-II, which is scheduled to be held in March 2013, will not be based on blue prints and the sample questions papers and will follow a more comprehensive structure of examination.
The entire structure of examination along with the unit wise weighting for subjects - English, Hindi, Sanskrit, mathematics, science and social science will be soon available on the academic websites of CBSE, and will also be circulated to all the schools affiliated to CBSE.
