There is an important addition in the curriculum of students of CBSE schools. Now, students will have to study lessons on road safety & rules as the CBSE & ministry of road transport & highways have merged together to make road safety a part of curriculum for class 6th to 10th.

This course material will be introduced in 2015-16 session. The books are currently being reviewed by the union HRD Minister, Smriti Irani. It is disclosed that the government will get started with the chapters on road safety in 4 subjects (Mathematics, Hindi, English and Social Science) and for classes 6th to 10th will have the chapters on road safety initially. The official stated, "It will be seen whether there is need for a separate subject altogether. It may be considered later."

The chairman of International Road Federation (IRF) stated, “Both the bodies (International Road Federation & Institute of Road Traffic Education) are currently holding workshops with the teachers across the CBSE schools for introduction in the next session."

It has been a long time in which the government has been trying to commence the course pertaining to road safety in school curriculum.
