Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to introduce online evaluation of class X answer sheets from the upcoming board examinations in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram.
The CBSE, from last year, had already introduced this system of digital marking of answer sheets of class X and class XII in all its other regions.
Mahesh D. Dharmadhikari, the Regional Officer, CBSE said, “The board introduced the online marking system to ensure an error-free evaluation system. This year the board is planning to introduce the system in our region.”
He also added, “The preliminary works has already been started in the region to roll out the new evaluation process. All the schools have been ordered to train their teachers to be able enough to handle computers. All the necessary infrastructure is also to be in place.”
A CBSE official explaining the process said that after the conduct of the examinations, the answer books, in sealed covers, would be given to the software provider after fixing bar-coded stickers on it and the next step will be to scan the answer sheets and then put in the computer for evaluation by the trained teachers.
S. Jyothis Chandran, the president of Kerala Sahodaya School Complexes said that the new online system would not only ensure the error-free evaluation but also the speedy completion of the evaluation process.
