Age Limit, Marital Status, and Gender
1. IMA: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2 January, 1988 and not later than 1 January 1993 only are eligible.
2. For Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2 January, 1990 (2 January, 1988 in case of NCC Naval Wing ‘C’ certificate holders) and not later than 1 January 1993 only are eligible.
3. For Air Force Academy: Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2 January, 1989 and not later than 1 January, 1993 only are eligible.
4. For Officers Training Academy (SSC course for Men): Male candidates (married or unmarried) born not earlier than 2 January, 1987 and not later than 1 January, 1993 only are eligible.
5. For Officers Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical course): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born but not earlier than 2 January, 1987 and not later than 1 January, 1993.
Educational qualification
1. For Indian Military Academy and Officers Training Academy: Degree of a recognized university or equivalent
2. For Indian Naval Academy: Degree in Engineering
3. For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognized university (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Candidates who are studying in final year degree course can also apply for the examination, but they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination to reach the army headquarters.
Important Dates:
- Opening date for online registration: 7 May, 2011
- Closing date for online registration: 6 June, 2011 till 11.59 PM
- Closing date for offline registration (Candidates from remote areas): 13 June, 2011. Application can reach by post/ speed post “Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi- 110069.
- Tentative date of written test: 18 September, 2011
Application Fee: No application fee will be charged from SC/ ST/ Female candidates and the fee for General and OBC Candidates is Rs 100.

How to apply:
1. Candidates are required to apply online using the link www.upsconline.nic.in Candidates from remote areas can apply offline in the Common Application Form used by the Commission for conducting examinations.
2. This Application Form along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the Form, an Acknowledgement Card and an envelope for sending the application will be obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/ Post Offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs 30/- (Rupees thirty only).
3. Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only and not from any other agency. This Form can be used only once and for only one examination.
4. Candidates, who wish to apply offline, must use the Form supplied with the Information Brochure only and they should in no case use photocopy/ reproduction/ unauthorised printed copy of the Form.
5. The applicants are required to affix the postage stamp of Rs 6/- on the Acknowledgement Cards and send the same along with Application Form to UPSC. If an applicant fails to affix the postage stamp of requisite amount his/her Acknowledgement Card will not be dispatched and Commission will not be responsible for non-receipt of Acknowledgement Card by the applicant.
6. The duly filled in Application Form and the Acknowledgement Card should then be mailed in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure. The candidates should also write the name of examination viz. “Combined Defense Services Examination-(II), 2011” on the envelope before despatching it to “Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069”.
Exemption for SC/ ST candidates: 5 years
Last date for applying: Online applications can be filled till 6 June, 2011 (11.59 pm) and offline (applications of candidates from remote areas) can be filled till 13 June, 2011.
