Additional points on Promotion: -
- To get promoted, one has to pass a departmental screening test; Otherwise, promotion is awarded on your zonal seniority.
- In Income tax and excise, place of posting is in the given zone; but when you are promted to Group-‘A’ then you can be posted anywhere in all India.
- As per the All India Association of central excise officers; candidates joined in the same year will get 6-7 promotions in Income tax Inspector/Examiner while Excise inspectors will get rarely 1-2 promotions.
