Government Jobs Dropped This FY 2016-17 as Compared to Last Year

The number of government recruitments that happened this year is comparatively less than last financial year. As per the government, the decrease in job recruitments happened because of UPSC, SSC and RRB. These specific boards offered jobs in much less number as compared to the year 2015-16.

As per reports revealed by ministry, year 2016-17, a total of 1,00,933 candidates were recommended for government jobs. While in the year 2015-16, a total of 1,11,807 candidates, or 10,874 more were recommended for jobs. In the year 2014-15, a total of 1,13,524 people were selected by these organisations-- 8,272 by the UPSC, 58,066 by SSC and 47,186 by RRB/RRCs.

Further the ministry added that the numbers noted above are only the recruitments made by UPSC, SSC and RRB and it do not include the recruitments made by state governments, banks, other financial institutions, universities, central public sector enterprises, statutory/ autonomous bodies and directly by the ministries/departments. The list also excludes the contractual employees government hires.
