How Many Students Appear For JEE Main 2024, Category-Wise Number of Candidates

NTA JEE Main 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for all students who aspire to get admission into top engineering colleges in the country. The exam is conducted in two sessions for Paper 1, Paper 2A, and Paper 2B. JEE Main 2024 Session 1 commenced on January 24, 2024, and ended on February 1, 2024. The JEE Main 2024 Session 2  exam will start from April 4, 2024, for Paper 1 and run till April 9. The Paper 2A and Paper 2B exams are scheduled for April 12. On each day, the exam will be conducted in two shifts. Shift 1 will commence from 9:00 AM and end at 12:00 PM whereas Shift 2 will start at 3:00 PM and end at 6:00 PM. In 2024 Session 1, there was a massive increase in the number of registered candidates and the number of cities and centres in comparison to previous years' data. As per the records, the total number of registered candidates for JEE Main 2024 Session 1 stands at 1221624, marking an increase of 27% in comparison to last year’s count of 860064. There was a dip in the number of shifts organised by NTA this year in comparison to the past year despite the growth in the number of registered candidates. The session had 11 shifts in total which is 2 shifts less than the previous year.

• Total number of registered candidates for JEE Main 2024 session 1 stands at 1231874. This is the total count with the combination of candidates who had registered for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. 
• The total number of candidates who had registered for JEE Main 2024 Paper 2 (B Arch/B Planning) was 74002 
• Among the registered candidates, 55493 appeared for the exam on Day 1, January 24, 2024. 

• The total number of candidates who had registered for JEE Main 2024 Paper 1 (B.Tech/ B.E) was 1221615

• Among the registered candidates, 1170036 appeared for the exam on the rest of the days on 27th, 29th, 30th, 31st January, and 1st February. 
• The attendance across the country for JEE Main Paper 1 was 95.8% which happens to be the highest in the history of NTA.
