Staff Selection Commission conducts written examination for various posts around the country in different government organizations and departments. It conducts written examination of the candidates that includes General Awareness, Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and for some posts Computer Knowledge. The reasoning paper among these is quite a tricky one and needs practice in order to get solved in limited time frame that the candidates get in these competitive examinations. Reasoning is also important to judge the decision making ability and spontaneity of the candidates. It carries questions related to analogies, statements and conclusions, analytical reasoning and many others to test the reasoning capability of the candidates.
The preparation for the paper is very important and should be done in a planned manner. Though the paper could be learnt very well by the candidates themselves, it is helpful to take ideas and guidelines from any competitive examination training/coaching institute. These institutes offer various tricks, methods, tips and strategies to enable the candidates to understand the questions better and answer them with precision in lesser time. Apart from joining any institute the candidates can prepare themselves in their respective homes as well, devoting their precious time every day for practice and following some basic guidelines.
Preparation for Reasoning in the first month
Reasoning paper, in the very first month, should be understood well by the candidates. They should have a clear idea about the questions that can be asked in a particular examination that the candidates are going to face. They should be aware of the level of questions that are about to come in the examination and start their mental preparation about the same. The first month of reasoning preparation could get a little tough and tricky at times, but with time it is expected to get smooth by following the methodologies provided in various preparation books and guides to solve the problems. The candidates must develop a habit of solving reasoning problems every day devoting a certain amount of time.
Preparation for Reasoning in the second month
In the second month of your training it is advisable to try and manage your time while solving the questions. This is a very tricky affair and needs constant practice to master. The limited time in the examinations doesn’t allow the candidates to take more time to any particular question while solving the paper. It is important to clock your performance and try to better it by every day keeping in mind that you have to answer the questions correctly. This practice makes you comfortable and confident while solving the questions in the main examination.
Preparation for Reasoning in third month
The third and final month of your preparation should be devoted to revision and looking at the learned items so far. It is better to invigorate the things you have learnt so far and not engage yourself in trying to learn other new things at this moment. It is also the ideal time to attempt the various departments of the paper and enhance your skills in the particular segment you are strong in. Answering questions with confidence and developing a clear frame of mind to face the examination is key for success in the last month of your preparation which can only be achieved through regular dedicated practice.
