Q. How many marks the IAS interview does carry?

Answer: IAS interview carries 300 marks. It tests the personality of the candidate and also called personality test. It’s a general perception that if the candidates get a very high percentage of marks in the Civil Services (Mains) examination he or she can take it easy in the IAS interview. However, the marks obtained by the candidate in the interview can affect his overall ranking. Even after secureing high marks in the written test, he will have to be contained with low-ranked services if he doesn’t do well in the interview. For instance, he wants to join Indian Foreign Services (IFS). Because of low marks in the interview, he doesn't get IFS but other low-ranked services like Indian Revenue Services or Indian Postal Services.
