ICAR notified for ICAR- Norman Borlaug Chair in International Agriculture 2013

Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) invited applications from Principal Scientists/ Professors for ICAR- Norman Borlaug Chair in International Agriculture in ICAR Agricultural University System till 30 May 2013. A total of one candidate­– which cannot be exceeded beyond 10– will be selected for the post via the Vice Chancellors/ Directors of ICAR Institutes/ Agricultural Universities.

Candidates who have worked as Professors or Principal Scientists for a minimum period of 8 years and are not above 58 years of age as on the closing date can apply. Besides this, the candidate should have individual excellence/achievements, contributions through research having impact on International Agriculture in the form of knowledge and technology generation including published work in reputed peer reviewed high impact journals, innovation as product/process/ methodology developed/patented/protected with relevance for International Agriculture on their collar are eligible for consideration for award of this Chair.

Candidates selected for the post will be paid fixed Rs 75000 per month with allowances for a total of 5 years. The tenure can be extended for one or more tenures of five years and will depend on the performance of the selected candidate as assessed by the Selection Committee but not beyond 65 years of age.

The motive behind the Chair is to promote excellence by recognizing outstanding scientist with proven output and outcome for creating a culture of basic research through their project work in the National Agricultural Research System (NARS) and establishing and nurturing a novel school of thought around the recognized person. Candidates will be selected via Search-cum-Selection Committee (SSC) approved by the President, ICAR Society and will comprise of One Eminent Scientist (Chairman), Director General ICAR (Member), Three reputed Scientists (Members Nominated by D.G., ICAR) and DDG Education (Member-Secretary).

The nominations should strictly be sent via Head of Institutions along with their up-to-date bio-data and the research project proposal in the prescribed proforma (Parts A, B and C). The application must be addressed to the Deputy Director General (Education), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi– 110012 before the last date till 5 pm.
