ICSE English Language (Paper 1) Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme: The exam pattern and marks distribution of the ICSE Class 10 English Language (Paper 1) exam provide essential insights that are valuable for students, which proves to be helpful in preparing for the exam. ICSE Class 10 English Literature (Paper 1) Format 2025

The ICSE Class 10 English Question Paper 2025 will be for 80 marks with a duration of 2 hours. 20 marks will be calculated on the basis of Internal Assessment.

Internal Assessment: English Language (Paper 1)

Internal assessment of 20 marks will be conducted separately for ICSE English Language. The assessment will be conducted jointly by the subject teacher and the external examiner. Assessment for paper 1 will be conducted based on the following criteria:

Preparation Tips for 2025 Examination 

  • Make sure to write in paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion.
  • Practice writing narrative, descriptive, and expository essays
  • Practice writing within a time limit to get used to managing time during the exam. 
  • Understand the format for formal and informal letter writing. 
  • Focus on essential topics such as tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, and modals.
  • Practice exercises on sentence transformation, error spotting, and gap-filling.
  • Solve previous years’ question papers to understand the types of questions asked and the expected format of answers.

Important Notes:

  • Theory Paper will test your knowledge. 
  • Project Work will assess your research, analysis, and presentation skills.
  • The Visiting Examiner will evaluate the project based on your methodology, analysis, and presentation.
  • Ensure you cover all the key topics mentioned in the syllabus and be prepared for source-based questions from the English Language (Paper 1) syllabus.
