Indian Institute of Management – Trichy (IIM-Trichy) will have its own separate campus that will be built at a cost of Rs 450 crore by March 2016, said an official release. Currently, the IIM – Trichy is located in the campus of the National Institute of Technology in Trichy.
Started to function in 2011, the institute has been sharing campus with NIT Trichy.
Recently, the Director of IIM-T, Prafulla Agnihotri, has signed a concerned memorandum of understanding (MoU) with V K Gupta, the director-general of the Central Public Works Department, which is in charge of the planning, designing and construction of the project. As per the sources, the construction of IIM – Trichy campus will start in March-April 2014 and is expected to be finished by March 2016.
As said in the official release, the IIM-Trichy is aimed to have a green campus and be self-sufficient in terms of its water requirements in five to seven years of its operations.
The IIM – Trichy campus will be built on 68 hectares of land that is given by the Tamil Nadu government. The campus will have the capacity to accommodate 1,500 students and 300 faculty and staff members. To be incorporated with all the academic facilities, the campus will consists of student hostels, residences for faculty and staff, recreational facilities and a well-equipped management development centre.
