As per the latest update, the pre-placement offers being made at IITs this year has reached an all-time high this year. The news has been received with cheers by the IITs, who are hoping for the bumper recruitment season ahead. The news also shows growing preference of top employers for IITs taking up the tried-and-tested route of internship to hire fresh talent from top engineering colleges in India.

Although the pre-placement season is just starting off at most of the IITs, many technology schools have already registered a hike of about a third in offers being made to the students. Technology firms still have around two weeks left to hire engineering talents from IITs. The rise in PPOs being offered to talented students also hints towards the confidence being shown by the employers in the institute’s academic programme.

We have listed down the PPOs statistics available until 31st October 2016 in the table below:

IIT Roorkee

IIT Kharagpur

IIT Madras

IIT Guwahati

As exhibited in the table above, the IIT-BHU has seen a rise of 31% in the pre-placement offers being made to the students, followed closely by IIT Roorkee which has seen a hike of 27% in PPOs. With still around 2 weeks left for the pre-placement season to close, these statistics are expected to show a significant hike in coming days.

This recent activity has been termed as a win-win situation for both tech firms and employers, both. While leading technology companies are also looking at PPOs as a way to book talented engineers prior the final placement seasons; students are able to join their dream companies without competing in the hectic placement season.

Among the top recruiters offering pre-placement offers at IITs, the notable ones include, Vodafone, Accenture, Capital One, American Express India, Visa, IFMR, Barclays, Wipro Consumer Care, Maxlinear, Edgeverve, Nvidia, Arcesium, Innoplexus and Adobe.

Slow down in the economy and rising concern regarding the employability of engineering in India, has certainly dampened the hype around d than that a year ago, officials said, even as companies have more than two weeks left to snap up talent through PPOs from the premier engineering institutes. engineering – the most preferred career choice among young Indians. However, the statistics regarding pre-placements offers being made to the IITians has busted all such myths this year.
