Religious Teachers preach religious scriptures to troops and conduct various rituals at Regimental /Unit Religious Institutions. Educational Qualification
For Pandit: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university and a qualified Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi or equivalent standard. Candidate who have cleared B.A. with Sanskrit / Hindi as one of the subject but is not a qualified Madhyama in Sanskrit or Bhushan in Hindi are also eligible.
For Maulvi: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university and a qualified Maulvi Alim in Arabic / Adib Alim in Urdu or equivalent standard. Candidate who have cleared B.A. with Arabic / Urdu as one of the subject but is not a qualified Maulvi Alim in Arabic / Adib Alim in Urdu are also eligible.
For Padre: Graduate in any discipline from a recognized University. Candidate should have been ordained priest by the appropriate ecclesiastical authority and is on the approved list of local Bishop.
Note: For candidates applying for Remustering the minimum qualification will be (10+2).
Culture: Candidates should belong to the culture of appropriate religious denomination and religious qualification acceptable to the troops.
Medical Standard: Candidate should have robust physique and mental health, chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm. expansion, should have normal hearing with each ear, should have sufficient number of natural teeth, should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins or piles.
Physical Standards
Height: 160 cm.
Weight: 50 Kg.
Chest: 77 cm.
Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Candidate should be able to run 1600 meter in eight minutes.
Selection Procedure: Final selection would be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in the Written Exam and Interview. Candidates found eligible will be issued call up letters by the concerned office / recruiting organization for initial screening which will include checking of original certificates followed by medical examination. Candidates found eligible after scrutiny of application forms will have to appear for a written test to be conducted on 24 February 2013. Candidates can appear for written exam only from the place of domicile.
The written examination will comprise of two papers:
Paper I: The 100 marks paper will have objective type questions on general awareness and will be common to candidates of all Religious denominations.
Only those candidates who qualify in Paper I will be allowed to appear in Paper – II.
Paper II: This paper will also be of 100 marks. The paper will test the knowledge specific to particular religious denomination to which the candidate belongs. The paper may be answered in English or Hindi.
Those clearing Paper II will be called for an Interview in the order of merit. They will be communicated about the interview dates by post through self addressed envelopes and the list will also be displayed at the respective HQ Recruiting Zones by 12 April 2013. The number of candidates to be called for Interview will be three times the number of vacancies).The interview will be of 100 marks.
Final selection will be based on merit list drawn on the basis of the total marks obtained in Paper II and Interview.
The list of finally selected candidates will be displayed at the respective HQ Recruiting Zones by 04 June 2013.
Training: Finally selected candidates will be enrolled as JCO (RT) and will undergo six weeks training at Regimental Centre followed by eleven weeks training at Institute of National Integration, Pune.
Appointment: On successful completion of training the candidates will be commissioned as Religious Teachers in the Rank of Naib Subedar.
Promotion: All JCOs (Religious Teachers) will become eligible for paid acting promotion to the rank of Subedar / Risaldar on completion of at least 10 years service as a religious teacher.
Retirement: Normal age of superannuation for JCO (RT) in the rank of Subedar will be 57 years. A Subedar Major (RT) will retire on completion of four years of service as Subedar Major or 57 years of age, whichever is earlier.
Remuneration: Finally selected candidates would be appointed as JCO (RT) with minimum Pay Scale of
Rs.9300 - 34800.
In addition they will be entitled to DA, free accommodation, entitled ration for self, uniform, free medical and leave travel concession for self, family, and dependents, canteen facilities and other allowances as admissible to the regular Army.

On the envelope containing the application, candidates should super-scribe “APPLICATION FOR JCO (RT) COURSE NO 71.”
