Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research Admission Notification 2012-13

The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) was established in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India for promoting scientific research at the highest level in Science and Engineering fields.

JNCASR invites applications for admission to MS/ PhD and Integrated PhD programmes in Science and Engineering from eligible candidates for the year 2012.

• MS/ PhD courses in Science and Engineering
• Integrated PhD: Materials Science, Chemical Science and Biological Science

Important Dates for Admission in JNCASR

• Last date for receipt of duly completed applications for MS/ PhD programme: 31 March 2012
• Last date for receipt of duly completed applications for Int. PhD programme: 22 March 2012

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in JNCASR

• MS/ PhD courses in Science and Engineering: Students must have qualified in NET-JRF/LS under CSIR/UGC fellowship schemes OR DBT/ICMR - JRF OR GATE / JEST / INSPIREI any other equivalent national level examinations

• Integrated PhD programmes

           a) Materials Science: Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science. Candidates are expected to have sound knowledge in the fundamentals of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

           b) Chemical Science: Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science with Chemistry as a major and Mathematics as a subject at least up to PUC (10+2 level)

           c) Biological Sciences: This is offered in two disciplines

               1) Evolutionary and Organismal Biology: Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics

               2) Molecular Biology and Genetics: Bachelor's degree in any branch of Science

For all the above Int. PhD programmes, candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks at the Bachelor's level. Those appearing for the final examination this year can also apply.
