IIT Kanpur, the exam conducting body for JEE Advanced 2018 has released the information brochure on January 26. The exam date for JEE Advanced 2018 which is May 20, 2018, remains unchanged as notified earlier on September 17, 2017. The dates for JEE Advanced 2018 registration has been announced in this information brochure along with complete registration procedure. For students who want to pursue engineering courses offered at IITs, it is mandatory to qualify both JEE Main 2018 and JEE Advanced 2018. Students who have registered for JEE Main 2018 would be appearing for the national level engineering exam on April 8, 2018 (pen-paper based mode) and on April 15 or April 16, 2018 (computer-based mode). Candidates who will qualify JEE Main 2018 paper 1 and secure a rank to be among 2, 24, 000 candidates will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2018. JEE Advanced 2018 Exam Centres –
IIT Kanpur has listed a tentative list of cities for JEE Advanced 2018 test centres. Candidates appearing for the exam can choose up to 5 cities as their preferred exam centre during JEE Advanced 2018 registration only. The exam conducting will be allotting one exam centre to each candidate as per the availability from their preferred cities; the allotted test centre with location will be mentioned in the JEE Advanced admit card 2018 as issued to the candidates. The reservation criteria for JEE Advanced 2018 for shortlisting qualified candidates is specified as under –
- Open Category: 50.5%
- Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer: 27%
- Scheduled Caste: 15%
- Scheduled Tribes: 7.5%
- Persons with Disabilities: 5% horizontally (5% for PWD candidates belonging to any of the reservation categories)
- Female candidates: 14% supernumerary seats
The rank list of JEE Advanced 2018 will be prepared on basis of marks scored by candidates in both the papers and as per the reservation criteria only.
