JEE Advanced-2014: Exam Summary:
Year 2014 is the second year of the JEE Advanced, which is conducted by the CBSE for the admission in the IITs. JEE Advanced-2014 used the same format of the JEE Advanced-2013. No modifications were being made in the policies and procedures that were adopted in JEE Advanced-2013. JEE Advanced-2014 was conducted on the May 25th.
JEE (Advanced)–2014 was conducted under seven zones. The zones were decided on the basis of the seven IITs (Kharagpur, Kanpur, Roorkee, Mumbai, Delhi, Madras and Guwahati). JEE (Advanced)–2014 was conducted across the 364 centres of 98 cities in the country and 1 centre at Dubai. A total of 1, 19, 581 candidates appeared in both papers of JEE (Advanced)–2014. A total of 27,151 candidates including 414 under PwD preparatory categories qualified in JEE (Advanced)–2014.
To appear in the JEE Advanced, a candidate has to qualify the JEE MAIN exam. Following table consists of the data which shows the category wise breakup of the candidate short listed for JEE (Advanced)–2014.

1, 54,032 candidates were selected for the JEE Advanced, out of which 51 candidates were declared ineligible to write the JEE Advanced-2014 exam. Total 1, 53, 981 candidates declared eligible to write the exam, out of which 1, 25, 315 candidates were male and 28, 666 were female candidates. Online registration for the exam was done through NIC during 3rd May to 9th May 2014. There were a total number of 217 courses offered by 16 IITs and ISM Dhanbad. Three rounds of seat allocation were done for the admission in these institutes.
The subject wise and aggregate cut off marks in JEE(Advanced) – 2014 was same as followed in 2013. The cut off marks are 10% and 35 % for GE; 9% and 31.5% for OBC(NCL) and 5% and 17.5% for SC, ST, PwD candidates respectively.
