As per an official report, Indian Railways had the world’s largest exam in 2016. In which 9.2 Million applications were received for 18, 252 vacancies. Now this year also Indian Railways have come up with huge 1, 10,000 vacancies for Group C and Group D Posts.

There are lots of benefits of working in Indian Railways and this is the reason, many people want to work in Indian Railways. Railway Recruitment Control Board (RRCB) is operated by Ministry of Railways which recruit candidates for Group A, B, C and D Posts through its recruitment policies. The minimum qualification to apply for Indian Railways is 8th pass. Yes, Group D Posts in any government organization is considered as the lowest rank job post. Name of the post – Pointsman

Educational Qualification: 10th passed or ITI from institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Name of the Post – Welder

Educational Qualification: 10th passed or ITI from institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Name of the Post – Shunter

Educational Qualification: 10th passed or ITI from institution recognized by NCVT/SCVT or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT.

Let’s Know about more positions of Group D

Trackman, Porter, Helper-II (Mech), Helper-II (S&T), Fitter, Welder, Gangman, Switchman, Cabinman, Safaiwala / Safaiwali, Gunman, Peon etc. are some other Posts in Group D. The candidate must be at least 10th pass for these posts and should have ITI Diploma in the concerned subject.

Selection Process for Indian Railways Group D Posts

The selection process consists of Computer Based Test (CBT), Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Skill Test and Document Verification and Empanelling of selected Candidates. Those who qualify in CBT and PET shall be called for document verification and empanelling of selected candidates.

Age Limit- The minimum age for applying to the Group D cadre is 18 and maximum is 33. In which, upper age limit relaxation will be given to the reserved category candidates as per govt. norms.
