A school is an institution where children are sent to get an education, learn new things, get exposure academically as well as in other areas of life including mastering interpersonal skills. There are different types of schools and one such system of school is known as a boarding school. In this article, we are discussing the boarding schools and how it is different from regular schools. Read below to know more about the boarding school system.
Boarding School is a facility for students to study as well as life on the school campus only. The boarding schools or residential schools have hostels where students can stay away from home to get their education. Where, regular school students attend their classes at school and come back to home, and they have no fixed study plan or discipline at home. But, for boarding school students there are strict rules and regulations and they are under watchful eyes all the time which ensures relief for their parents academically as well as for safety purpose.
Boarding Schools are preferred by parents when they have an unstable life due to work or some other reasons. Therefore, they send their child to study at boarding school, where they will get academic learning as well as there will be 24*7 security with the faculty staying with them in the school premises only.
Learning hours – where regular schools or day schools have fixed hours i.e. 7-9 hours for conducting classes, on the other hand, students in boarding schools have extended hours and in addition, they stay on the school premise which makes it 24 hours at a school.
Academics – In boarding schools, the academics are not just limited to classrooms i.e. students at the boarding school get to learn 24*7 with their wardens at their hostel after the school hours. However, for students attending regular schools have to only attend the classes and study only for the exams. There is no such rigorous study pattern followed with them as compared to boarding school students.
Cultural and regional importance – Where in a regular school, students from the same locality will be attending the school together; in boarding school, the scenario is different because students from all across the country or even outside the nation can study and stay together. This gives cultural and regional exposure to students studying at the boarding school. They accept and adapt to different cultural values which also boosts their intellect as compared to students at a local school.
Discipline – The students at the regular or local school have a relaxed lifestyle as there is no rules and regulations after school and they can be flexible of how they study or use their remaining hours after school as per their convenience. But, boarding school students live by rules and regulations as laid by the school authorities. This becomes an advantage for the students in later their career life.
Conclusion: A boarding school is significantly different from a regular/local school. The facts mentioned about the boarding school and also the differences between a regular day school and boarding school will help you understand this well enough.
