State elections for New Delhi are due. These re-elections for the Delhi state have created frenzy. Every political party is keeping its best foot forward. Mainly two parties are in fierce competition, BJP and AAP. Their Chief Ministerial candidates are Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal respectively. Ajay Maken from Congress, it seems is not in the race. Let us see their personalities and leadership style.
Kiran Bedi: First woman IPS Officer
Kiran Bedi has had a stint of approximately 40 years specifically in New Delhi. She has been famous in her tenure for being a strict leader and running the show with a stick in her hands. She has an assertive leadership style. She has proved herself as a bureaucrat in her responsibilities as an IPS officer. She brought in many reforms and with an experience in her kitty; she may turn out to be a good “political” leader. Whether she will take part in it politically or as a clean and straight forward officer is yet to be seen.
Arvind Kejriwal: Ex-IRS officer
It has been clear from the day Arvind Kejriwal decided to create his political party that he is here demanding a change. AAP was established in November 2012 to take part in New Delhi state elections. Party went on to take part in the recently concluded national elections which BJP swept with full majority. Lot of big names joined the party but not many were happy and later left the party. Arvind Kejriwal has stayed humble, talked logically, walked the talked, went into masses but took some U-turns. What he lacks as a political leader is experience but no “fresher” is a bad worker.
New Delhi voters have their own favorites. Who will come up as the winner in this whole contest is yet to be seen. Invaluable votes will be cast on 7th February 2015 and results will be out on 10th February 2015.
