Maharashtra SSC Board Exam 2025: The Maharashtra state board has issued a clarification regarding the passing marks of the Mathematics and Science in the upcoming Maharashtra SSC Exams 2025, addressing any confusion caused by a proposal in the State Curriculum Framework (SCF). The proposal has suggested lowering the passing marks for these subjects from 35 to 20. However, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has confirmed that there will be no change in the passing criteria for Mathematics and Science in the 2025 SSC Exams, which are scheduled to begin on February 21, 2025.
A circular released by Devidas Kulal, Secretary of the Maharashtra State Board, assured students, teachers and schools that the existing passing marks requirement of 35 for both Mathematics and Science would remain the same. The circular further clarified that any future changes, if implemented, would be communicated to the concerned parties, including students, parents, teachers and schools.
Maharashtra State Board Exam Dates 2025
This year, the Maharashtra Board exams for both SSC and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) will start earlier than usual. The Mah HSC exams will begin on February 11, 2025, and end on March 18, 2025. The Maharashtra SSC exams, typically held in the first week of March, will begin on February 21, 2025, and finish on March 17, 2025. The State Board believes this earlier start will ensure the next academic year begins on time and help with smooth admissions to higher education.
State Curriculum Framework (SCF) Proposes Lowering Mah SSC Passing Marks
The Maharashtra government wanted to make it easier for students to pass the 10th board exams in Maths and Science. They suggested lowering the passing marks from 35 to 20. However, this idea has caused confusion among the students and parents. The State Board has clarified that the passing marks would remain the same, and there would be no changes to the exam pattern.
Positive Reception for Lower Passing Marks Proposal
The proposal in the SCF received a positive response from many, especially educators and parents. Teachers pointed out that math anxiety is a significant issue, leading to stress during exams. The suggestion to lower the passing marks for Mathematics and Science was seen as a way to ease this pressure, particularly for students who struggle with these subjects but don’t plan to pursue careers that require advanced knowledge of mathematics or science.
Clarification Reassures Maharashtra Board SSC 2025 Aspirants
With the issue regarding passing marks now clarified, students preparing for the Maharashtra SSC exams in 2025 can continue their studies without worrying about changes to the exam criteria. The clarification from the Maharashtra State Board ensures that students and teachers can proceed with their exam plans.
Although the changes proposed in the SCF for future exams are still being considered, updates will be provided if and when any changes are implemented.
