As compared to last year, there has been a significant increase witnessed in the number of CBSE Class X students who have opted for the external exam in 2014 boards. Students who have opted for internal examination are very few this year.
The Class X Boards 2014 exam will commence from March 1, and schools have begun with the preparation.
CBSE declared the Class X board exam as optional in 2009, however, the decision was implemented in 2010. Later in 2012, CBSE made the external board examination compulsory only for those students who wish to switch their board to some other, after Class 10. However, for those who want to change only school does not have compulsion to appear for external boards and this 2012 decision came into effect from 2013.
