The segment of yarn has witnessed immense growth from 626.3 Lakh Kg in FY11 to 673.60 Lakh Kg in FY15. This shows an increase of 1.8% CAGR. In this growth, cotton yarn is accountable for largest share amongst the total yarn production. Similar to man-made fibres, the production rate decreased to 399.30 Lakh Kg in FY 16 (April-October 2015).

    Market Size:

    The size of this industry is currently amounted at 108 billion US dollars and is projected to touch 223 billion US dollars by 2021. The exports are projected to reach 185 billion US dollars from 41. Apart from generating huge employment, the textile industry highly contributes to India’s GDP with 5%.

    It also adds 14% to the overall index of industrial production. Moreover, the capability of this sector is anticipated to reach 500 billion US dollars with the assistance of talented work force and appropriate management.
