The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) introduced an art based pedagogy in twenty MCD schools in New Delhi.
The pilot project is to be implemented in all government schools across states at the primary level , starting April 2013.
The pilot project, which is under the department of education in arts and aesthetics, NCERT, was started in order to implement the Right to Education (RTE) Act (2009) and the recommendations of National Curriculum Framework (NCF) (2005) to introduce value-based learning through mediums like art and do away with the system of rote-learning at primary level (classes I-V).
The project also involved training of teachers to learn the concept and practice it, with the existing resources. The learning process in the MCD primary schools kick started in May 2011.
According to the RTE Act 2009, schools need more teachers . In lieu to the same, NCERT is all pumping up for the inservice teachers to increase quality of the teaching learning in classrooms.
