Answer.

(a) Nandita had to bring her mother from the village to Mumbai for her treatment.

(b) Nandita used to feel like vomiting because the toilet was very dirty and smelled very bad.

(c) Nandita’s house in the village had one room along with separate places for cooking and bathing. They also had a courtyard outside. But her Mama’s house had only one room in which they would sit, sleep, cook, wash and eat.

(d) For getting water from the public tap, people had to get up early in the morning and stand in a queue. There were many fights to get water from the tap, while in the village, there were rivers and ponds for water. There were no fights or rush to get water.

(e) Yes, there was electricity at the place where Nandita’s Mama lived because he lived in Mumbai which is a big city.

(d) I climbed upto 10th floor.

(a) When Nandita first came to Mumbai, she was afraid of travelling in the crowded buses and boarding the lift.

(b) Following were the differences between the houses where Mama lived and the houses in the high-rise buildings:

(c) These differences are due to the different financial conditions of people living in the two places. Nandita’s mama could not afford a big house in the high rise building due to his poor financial condition.

(a) No, it is not right that Mama and others have to move because a hotel is going to be built there because it will disturb there life and work badly.

(b) The owner of the hotel will benefit from this.

(c) People who have to leave their homes will face difficulties.

(d) Yes, I know some people who have faced problems similar to Nandita’s Mama when they had to leave their homes due the construction of new and wide roads.
