The Central Board of Secondary Education has come up with a plan to help female students who are willing to take up engineering as their career option in future by providing them free online resources for preparation to undergo various admission tests to get admission in various engineering colleges around the country. The drive has been taken up by the board to encourage girl students to take up engineering as their career option so that they can take up leadership roles in the future.
The female students can either apply online or can submit a hard copy of the application to CBSE by October 27, 2014 to avail the benefits provided by the CBSE. These online resources would help the students to understand the pattern of the examination and would help them by providing tricks and methods to solve problems so that they can score well in the admission tests. The aim of the project is to enhance teaching and learning of science and mathematics at senior secondary level so that free online resources could be provided to support 1000 underprivileged girls every year.
Approx. 50 percent of the seats are reserved for SC/ST and backward class students in the program who would get benefited by the tutorials, lectures and study materials that would be provided to the students online for preparation in IIT and other engineering entrance exams. Preference would be given to students who are from poor economic background.
Those candidates who have scored a minimum of 70 percent marks in Class 10 and 80 percent marks in Science and Mathematics (in grade points CGPA 8, GPA of 9 in science and mathematics) could apply through a filled in application form and send it to ‘CBSE, 4th Floor, Shiksha Sadan, 17 Rouse Avenue, New Delhi, 110002’ by 27 October 2014.
