Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission (MPPURC) has given green signal to the private universities to begin admissions for engineering courses on the basis of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) in the next admission season.
Private Universities have no obligation to take students for engineering courses based on JEE scores, the Private universities can hold their own entrance test as well. Till now, the Private universities offer 15% seats through JEE score.
MPPURC’s commission, Dr. A K Pandey, said the permission will lead the private universities to streamline their process of admission.
The directorate of technical education (DTE) had eliminated state pre-engineering exam this year, therefore the admission in government and private engineering colleges would now be determined through JEE score.
Upon asking why the entire admission process has not been mandated through only JEE, Pandey told that the alternative admission method has been granted as every University has their own structure.
Madhya Pradesh presently have 11 private universities in which, around 20,000 students are pursuing engineering courses. Those 11 universities are AISECT (Bhopal), ASK University (Satna), Amity University (Gwalior), ITM University (Gwalior), Jaypee University (Guna), Oriental University (Indore), RKDF University (Bhopal), People's University (Bhopal), SVN University (Sagar), Jagran Lake City (Bhopal) and Techno Global University (Sironj).
