Punjab University Fee Not To Be Hiked Again, Up Till Now

    The Punjab University (PU) Syndicate meeting that was earlier postponed twice was conceded on Tuesday in between the merriment and celebrations for the university attaining high rank in the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings for the year 2013-14.

    The syndicate in the meeting gave its approval to the affiliation of the Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital in Chandigarh Sector 26. However, in a former meeting, the Syndicate decided to forward a notice of disaffiliation to the college.

    Satpal Jain (BJP Leader) opposed the proposal of increasing fee by 10% and after much discussion the final decision has been delayed until the next meeting.
    Mr. Jain said, that the students are already troubled with increasing fees and the decision of fee hike will affect university and college students negatively, since the last year also fee rate were increased.
     In the meeting that held late into the night, the Syndicate sanctioned renovating the law auditorium along with English department auditorium, for which renovation expense amount of 8 lakhs and 50 lakhs were proposed as per the syndicate agenda.
     Besides, in the meeting, the Syndicate also collectively recommended Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) to mathematician and Padam Bhushan Awardee RP Bambah.

    On the suggestion of building a 100-bed hospital and multi-auditorium in the campus, the Syndicate came to a decision of first forming a panel to assess the feasibility of these suggestions.
