Age Limit: Between 17 and 19.5 years (Born between 2 July 1992 and 1 January 1995)

Marital Status and Gender: Only unmarried male candidates are eligible.

Eligibility criteria

Educational qualification: Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 pattern) or its rquivalent from University/ Board with at least 70 at least 70% marks in physics, chemistry and mathematics at least 50% marks in English. Either in class X or class XII.

Physical Standards

  • Height and Weight: Minimum Height- 157 cms with correlated weight as per age.
  • Eye Sight: Distant Vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. The candidate should not be colour/ night blind.

Type of Commission: On successful completion of training, candidates will be granted Permanent Commission in Executive or Technical (Engineering, Electrical or Naval Architect) Branches of the Indian Navy.

Training

  • The training is scheduled to commence in January 2012
  • Selected candidates will be inducted from as Cadets for four years B Tech course in Electronics and Communication or Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala Kerala. Cadets will be Executive or Technical (Engineering, Electrical or Naval Architect) Branch. On completion of the course, B Tech Degree will be awarded by Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU).
  • The entire cost of training, including books and reading material will be borne by the Indian Navy. The candidates will also be provided with free clothing and messing.

Cost to Company (CTC): The CTC for a Sub Lieutenant would be approximately Rs 58,000 per month.

Important Dates

  • Closing date for registration: 28 June 2011
  • Training will commence from: January 2012

Applications sent by Speed Post/ Regd Post/ Courier will not be accepted.

Selection procedure: The mode of selection is Intelligence test/ discussion test/ psychological test/ group task test/ group discussion and interview basis.
