Civil Services (IAS) preliminary exam 2012 was held on 20 May(Sunday). The exam consisted of two papers carrying 200 marks each. The time duration of each paper was 2 hours. The examination was held at the various centres across the country.
This time the examination tested the basic knowledge of candidates on various government planning and schemes. The candidates were required to show administrative aptitude while solving the papers.
Paper -1 consisted of questions on government planning, new schemes and development programmes.
Paper-2 popularly referred as CSAT included questions on mental ability, Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General mental ability, Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. (Class X level), Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. –Class X level), English language comprehension skills (Class X level).
