3rd April, School News Headlines Today: Morning assembly in schools is an important part of the day since it marks a new beginning each day. All the schools mandatorily conduct school assemblies in the morning to kick start the day with refreshment, prayers, and positive thoughts. All the students along with teachers and a few staff members gather in the school grounds for the morning prayers. As a part of the school morning assembly process, sharing important news headlines and a carry forward discussions in the respective classes is an important process. Often, schools ask class teachers to share important news headlines with students in their respective classes only.   • Paradip Port Authority’s journey has reached new heights as Paradip Port achieved record-breaking achievement of clocking incredible 145.38 MMT cargo throughput in Financial Year 2023-24.
  • Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) released ‘Updated Seasonal Outlook for hot weather season (April to June) today. As per IMD, most parts of country are likely to witness above Normal maximum temperatures in Hot weather season 2024. 
  • REC Limited receives SKOCH ESG Award 2024 in ‘Renewable Energy Financing’ category. REC is a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise that is administered by the Ministry of Power and a leading NBFC. 
  • Ms Sheypali Sharan has today taken charge as Principal Director General, Press Information Bureau (PIB). Ms Sharan was given the control upon superannuation of Shri Manish Desai. She is an Indian Information Officer from 1990 batch. 
  • State Bank of India (SBI) refuses to disclose electoral bonds Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in response to the RTI application. Earlier SC had declared Electoral bonds scheme has unconstitutional.

  • India reprimands China over its attempts to rename several places in Arunachal Pradesh. Recently, Chinese Ministry of Civial Affairs posted 30 additional names for the region, on their official website. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) says that it was a senseless move. 
  • Earthquake of 6.1 magnitude strucks Japan’s northern coast of Iwate prefecture. Japan’s Meterological Centre says that the earthquake occurred at 12:59 AM (IST) at Iwate Prefecture, thus making it the epcicentre. 
  • In a recent update on Baltimore Bridge Collapse tragedy, Indian crew of 20 members will remain on board Dali until the probe is completed. The board collided with the Baltimore Bridge during early hours of March 26. 

Sports News for Today’s School Assembly

  • All India Football Federation (AIFF) suspends Deepak Sharma, executive committee member of the federation on charges of alleged physical assault on two women footballers of the club. The assault allegedly took place on the night of March 28 in Goa. 
  • Hockey India League has been given all-clear by International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the re-launch after eight years. HIL will be conducted between December 28 to February 1, featuring both men and women.
