IIT Alumni Industry Interaction Centre (IIT AIIC) which is an IIT initiative that is spread across 16 IITs in the nation has recently inaugurated there second facility ‘Hubs in the Sky’ at the IIT Madras Research Park by offering a Puja (Prayer). Professor Bhaskar Ramamamurthi, Director IIT Madras, Professor Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Head IITM Research Park and Dr. R Nagarajan Dean Alumni and International Affairs were present at the even as chief guests. Suresh Kalapathi of Kalapathi Investments and the IIT AIIC president thanked the governing council for their guidance and support at the event.

Professor R Nagarajan, International and Alumni Relations, IIT Madras welcomed the AIIC to its new premises saying, “IITs and their alumni share one common characteristic innovation in all their endeavors. The AIIC is another example of that-a-path-breaking effort to integrate academia/alumni/industry interaction into traditionally social setting. I am sure the success of this initiative at IIT Madras Research Park will spur similar Centres at other IITs as well.”

IIT is a hub of innovations and the Research Park has the facility to behave like an incubation cell for those ideas and innovations to take shape. AIIC would help bring closer the industry requirements to the students working on newer ideas and innovations. To foster discussions over technology, business and social networking amongst the alumni and faculty of IITs, the new facility ‘Hub in the Sky’ has been launched. This facility is expected to venture into other metros over the nation as well which would further help in deliberating discussions over research items and innovative ideas.

The new hub would include a member’s lounge, fine dining, banquet halls, meeting rooms, library, business centre, AV room and Executive rooms which would take this facility to achieve world class facilities. The vision and mission of the facility ‘Hum in the Sky’ would be to supplement and complement the vision of IITMRP (the first facility). This would work as the platform to hold meaningful and fruitful discussions between industry, academia, research scientists, policy makers, legal/finance/technical specialists and investment managers, which would further help the ultimate innovation to find takers.
