SSC Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam 2015: Tips to score more in GI & Reasoning

Jagranjosh Experts have come up with various tips to score more in GI & Reasoning. These tips will help aspirants to crack the exam by scoring well.

Staff Selection Commission, like every other year, has invited candidates for their Higher Secondary level clerical staff recruitment examination for 2015. The candidates need to undergo written test, skill test and personal interview to overcome the hurdle and land into the job. The selection would be made for LDC (lower division clerk) and DEO (Data entry operator) at different government offices. Lakhs of aspiring candidates apply for these exams every year and thus in order to get through the candidates need to have than extra mile through their preparations. The SSC CHSL examination is conducted in two phases consisting of Written test and Descriptive Test. The subjects in both the tests remain more of same but the kind of question differs. After the written tests the candidates have to undergo practical/skill/typing test to further get qualified.

The candidates first need to focus on the written examination which consists of 4 papers containing MCQs. The papers are General Intelligence and Reasoning, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. These papers consists of 200 marks in total containing maximum 200 questions which needs to get solved in 2 hours’ time.

Important Topics:

The General Intelligence and Reasoning paper tests the reasoning ability of the candidates. It testify the decision making ability and spontaneity of the candidates which are necessary to possess. The paper includes questions related to semantic analogy, symbolic operation, number analogies, trends, figural analogy and space orientation. There are questions related to Venn Diagrams, figural classifications, drawing inferences end other figural elements which are there to test the visual memory and understanding of the candidates. There are questions related to critical thinking and problem solving which includes using of emotional intelligence and social intelligence in part of the candidates. The topics are mainly to test the analytic aspect of the candidate rather than being numerical.

Tips to Prepare GI & Reasoning:

  • The candidates need to practice and solve previous year questions to get a firm idea about the kind of questions that appear in the examination.
  • The time is key for this paper and thus needs to be managed quite efficiently. If some question makes a candidate stuck somewhere, they should immediately leave the question and move forward to other relatively known questions.
  • There has to be planned way of preparing this paper which includes questioning and judging the merit of questions depending upon their repeating tendency in previous year questions.
  • Try and relate questions with real life to get a better idea of the questions and solve them in ways which are different from academics.
  • Don’t get confused over using certain idea or method to solve the questions, as they are set in such a manner to confuse you. Be sure of your answer.
