The regular recruiters offered increased number of diverse roles to the seventeenth batch of PGP (Post Graduate Programme) of IIM – Kozhikode during summer placement that ended last Tuesday.
The press release from IIM- Kozhikode mentioned about the hike of 20% in the number of offers per company, this resulted in fewer companies/recruiters taking part in the institute’s summer placements when compared to the previous year that had almost the similar batch strength of 366.
The highest paid stipend amount domestically this year is Rs. 2 lakhs, and the average stipend amount rose to 36% as compared to last year.
Top recruiters in Summer Placements 2013 were Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, and Tata Administrative Services (TAS). They all in total recruited 30 students for summer placements.
Besides, some new recruiters as L’Oreal, Aviva, Saint-Gobain, Godrej, Castrol, Cipla , InMobi , Bosch, Altisource, Dell, , Whirlpool, Vodafone, Aricent, and ACC were also present for the summer placement.
Summer placement exam is different from the lateral and final placement that occurs in the campus. The Summer Placements process begins in the month of October usually, while lateral commences in December and Final placements from January.
Summer placement is considered an essential part of the Curriculum in which summer projects are planned and offered to students as an opportunity to put theoretical learning into practical output. This enables the recruiter’s companies to employ quality managing staff and creates value adding short term assignments.
