Prior to one month of the result date of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2013, majority of Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have announced their admission selection criteria set for their post-graduate management programmes.
Most institutes are holding a 90 percentile cut-off such as IIM- Raipur, Kozhikode, Ranchi, Lucknow, Udaipur and Kashipur. IIM-Trichy, which was under IIM-Bangalore's mentorship, has also set the bar of indicative percentile of 90.
The IIM-Calcutta has set cut-off of 95 percentile, with keeping 90 percentile as the sectional cut-off. The IIM-Rohtak announced cut-off of 85 percentile, while IIM-Shillong at 70 percentile in each section.
The ones who have not declared their cit-off for admission 2014 is IIM-Bangalore. In the former year, its cut-off percentile was set as 90.
The stress on consistent performance with prior academic records is being put by the IIM-B and it considers on maintaining it. The current fee of IIM-B is INR 17 lakh and the number of extra seats to be added is unknown so far.
After bearing longtime criticism for maintaining poor diversity in picking students, the IIMs are to now carry on granting extra points for female candidates and non-engineers.
Many IIMs are to give extra marks to Women aspirants, Besides, Academic diversity will also fetch additional points such as in IIM-C one or two, based on the subjects, IIM-L that provide three, IIM-K two percentage and a maximum up to one point in Trichy.
The young IIMs -- Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Trichy and Udaipur are to continue to select on the basis of common process of written test and personal interview. IIM-Trichy is to coordinate it for admission 2014.
The older IIMs will also share results with the newer ones.
