What is TISSNET?
TISSNET or the Tata Institute of Social Sciences - National Entrance Test is an institute level MBA entrance exam that is conducted by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. TISSNET exam is a gateway to the 4 campuses of TISS located at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, and Hyderabad. TISSNET is organized to screen aspirants seeking admission to postgraduate level courses like:
- MA in Human Resource Management and Labour Relations
- MA in Globalization and Labour
- MA in Social Entrepreneurship
The exam is popular among aspirants, especially the MBA aspirants, for the MA (HRM & LR) course which is deemed equivalent to an MBA degree in HR.
Who can appear for TISSNET?
Candidates with three year’s Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognised university can apply for the TISSNET exam.Final year candidates in degree programmes can also apply and appear for the entrance exam. There is no defined age limit to appear for the TISSNET Entrance exam.
TISSNET Exam Pattern
TISSNET is a computer-based exam which is conducted in a single session across all the test centres. The exam comprises of 100 multiple choice questions from 3 sections that are to be answered in 1 hour 40 minutes i.e. 100 minutes. The Social Sensitivity/General Awareness section comprises of 40 questions, while Verbal Ability/English Proficiency and Maths & Logical Reasoning section, each, has 30 questions. Candidates are awarded +1 mark for each correct answer while there is no negative marking for wrong answers.

TISSNET Exam Schedule
TISSNET exam is conducted in the month of January and the exam result is generally announced within a span of 3 weeks from the date of the exam. The expected timeline of TISSNET Exam is as follows:
