UPSC IAS Main Exam 2013: Ample Time for Preparation

Union Public Service Commission had announced the result of Civil Services Preliminary Exam, conducted on 26th May 2013, on 2nd August, 2013.

Union Public Service Commission had announced the result of Civil Services Preliminary Exam, conducted on 26th May 2013, on 2nd August, 2013. This year the Main (written) Exam will commence from 1st of December, 2013.

This year the candidates are getting more time than ever for the preparation for the IAS Main Exam. The result announced on 2nd of August and the exam will start on 1st December so the candidate will get around 120 days (August+ September+ October+ November) for the preparation. Earlier this window period was around 90 days because the result came in first week of August and the exam started in Last week of October or the First week of November.

The Union Public Service Commission has announced the Examination Calendar for 2014. The window period between the Preliminary and Main (written) exam is also very less for the next year. The Date of Preliminary exam for 2014 is 24th August, 2014 and the Main (written) Exam will commence from 14th December, 2014. This means the candidate will get around 60-80 days for the preparation of IAS Main (written) if the result is announced in the last week of September.

In 2012 the Main Exams commenced from 5th October hence making it a little more than four months from the date of Preliminary Examination and little more than two months from the announcement of Preliminary results.  

As per the issued UPSC Examination Calendar for 2014 the preliminary examination will be conducted on 24th August and the IAS Main Exam will commence from 14th December so the total timeframe of the Preliminary and IAS Main will be 110-112 days .This year the preliminary was conducted on 26th May and the IAS Main will commence from 1st December so the candidates are getting around Six Months for the preparation of IAS Mains. The UPSC is giving the candidates ample time to come up with their best for the New Syllabus.
