WIHG, established in 1968, is an autonomous research Institute of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. It carries out basic research in Himalayan Geology and related fields which includes geodynamic evolution, mountain building processes, geoenvironment, seismotectonics and natural resources.

Age Limit
- Scientist ‘D’: The maximum age of the candidates shall not exceed 45 years as on the date of advertisement.
- Scientist ‘C’: The maximum age of the candidates shall not exceed 40 years as on the date of advertisement.
- Scientist ‘B’ and Senior Personal Assistant: The maximum age of the candidates shall not exceed 35 years as on the date of advertisement.
- Stenographer, Gr. II and Section Cutter: The maximum age of the candidates shall not exceed 28 years as on the date of advertisement.
- Lower Division Clerk: The maximum age of the candidates shall not exceed 27 years as on the date of advertisement.
- Field-cum-Lab-Attendant and Bearer: The maximum age of the candidates shall not exceed 25 years as on the date of advertisement.
Educational Qualification
- Scientist ‘D’: Doctoral degree in Paleoclimatology, Stable Isotope geochemistry, Mass Spectrometry, Aquous Geochemistry, Igneous Petrology, Structure & Tectonics, Sedimentology, Mathematical modeling of climate/tectonics/ glaciers, Computational Seismology with M.Sc. or M.Tech or M.Phil in Geology/Geophysics/Physics/Chemistry.
- Scientist ‘C’: Ph.D. degree in Geology with M.Sc. in Geology/Geophysics/Physics/Chemistry with outstanding research publications.
- Scientist ‘B’: M.E./M.Tech. In Electrical or Electronics or Instrumentation or combination of any two. Or M.Sc. Degree in Geology or Geophysics or Physics or Chemistry or Mathematics.
- Senior Personal Assistant: Graduation Degree with having a speed of 120 w.p.m. in shorthand and 40 w.p.m. in typing.
- Stenographer, Gr. II: Graduation Degree or equivalent with having a speed of 120 w.p.m. in English shorthand and 40 w.p.m. in typing.
- Section Cutter: 10th class passed.
- Lower Division Clerk: 12th class passed or equivalent with having a speed of35 w.p.m. in English typing and 30 w.p.m. in Hindi typing on computer.
- Field-cum-Lab-Attendant: 10th class passed.
- Bearer: 10th class passed or equivalent.

Selection Process
Candidates will be selected on the basis of performance in written examination/interview.
