Q. Why do we fall backwards when slipped on a banana peel?
Ans. When we walk we push the ground with our toes in horizontally backward direction. Then, according to the Newton’s third law of action and reaction, the friction of the ground gives an equal and opposite reaction to our action and pushes us in the forward direction, hence helps us in walking. But when we stepp on a banana peel we don’t get the necessary frictional force to give us a forward push, thus we lose our balance and fall in the backward direction.
