Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated annually on April 30. Various state and national campaigns are planned to inform citizens about the benefits of PMJAY. 

However, there is no specific theme for Ayushman Bharat Diwas. 

Ayushman Bharat Diwas 2024: History

The Ayushman Bharat Yojana or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) is a great initiative by the Government of India to provide affordable healthcare facilities to the low-income sections of our country. It was launched in the year 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

How Does the Ayushman Bharat Program Work?

The scheme encompasses two key components: the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), which provides health insurance cover of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year, and the Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), which aim to deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services. Such as: 

Health and Wellness Centers: The Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centers will be known as Ayushman Arogya Mandir. These centres would deliver Comprehensive Primary Health Care (CPHC), bringing healthcare closer to the homes of people, covering both maternal and child health services and non-communicable diseases, including free essential drugs and diagnostic services.

Mantri Pradhan Jan Arogya Yojana: Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) is India’s flagship health scheme that aims to provide insurance and, in turn, quality healthcare. The insured person will be able to access cashless and paperless treatment at any hospital in the nation that is either run directly by the government or affiliated with any organization around the country.

Ayushman Mitra: An Ayushman Mitra (AM) is a certified frontline health service professional who shall be present at each of the EHCPs and shall serve as a first contact point for beneficiaries. It is a volunteer initiative envisioned to provide an opportunity to all citizens to contribute towards the vision of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna.

What Are The Benefits Of Ayushman Bharat Diwas?

The significance of Ayushman Bharat Diwas is to highlight the objectives of Ayushman Bharat Yojana and educate people about the advantages of this healthcare scheme. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana is a significant healthcare initiative of the government of India. 

Under this scheme, more than 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families receive free health insurance of Rs 5 lakh every year. The scheme also covers the expenses of three days of pre-hospitalization, 15 days of pre-hospitalization care and other associated charges. Also, eligible patients get first-rate medical care at thousands of government and private hospitals. 

The central government is fully funding the PM-JAY scheme, but its implementation cost is shared between the central and state governments. The state government has the right to provide cashless hospitalisation to the beneficiaries of the PM-JAY scheme.
