Step-by-Step Voting Process
- Register Your Name
Before you can vote, ensure that your name is listed on the electoral roll. All Indian citizens who are 18 years old as of January 1 can register as voters in their respective constituencies. Registration can be completed through the Election Commission of India’s website.
- Verify Your Name in the Voter List
Once registered, check if your name appears in the voters' list:

- Find Your Polling Station
To vote, you must know where to go:

- Bring Your ID

The Voting Process
To cast your vote, proceed with the following steps:
- Visit the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
- Dial the option next to your preferred candidate's symbol.
- That will be reflected by a beep and a red light will light up next to the candidate's name.
- Check VVPAT
- After that, a VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) will show:
- Name of the chosen candidate.
- Party symbol.
- Serial number.
This will print out for seven seconds to enable you to confirm that your vote has been captured correctly. This printout will be kept in safe custody for possible scrutiny during counting.
Once You Have Voted:
- Exit the cubicle
- Dip your finger in ink to show that you have concluded the voting process.
- Downloading Your Voter Slip Online
- To download your voter slip in advance:
- Visit the Chief Electoral Officer, Delhi website.
- Click on 'Search Your Name in Electoral Roll.'
- Enter your details and click 'Search.'
- If your name appears, click 'View Details' and download or print your voter slip.
- You can also use the Voter Helpline app by linking your mobile number to your EPIC number from your Voter ID.
