Noted playwright Habib Tanvir (85) passed away on June 8. He began his career as a journalist and went on to become a highly renowned theatre personality. He wrote the plays such as ‘Agra Bazar’ ‘Charandas Chor’ and ‘Ponga Pandit’. He was honoured with several national and international awards, including the Padma Shri, Kalidas Samman, Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship and Padma Bhushan.
