A new innovation is what the Indian cricket is ready to bring about with its first ever-hybrid pitch.
This pitch was unveiled at the Himachal Pradesh cricket Assosciation (HPCA) stadium in Dharamsala on Monday . The hybrid surface was unveiled in a grand ceremony and the IPL chairman Arun Dhumal and other cricket dignitaries including Paul Taylor, who is an ex – England player and SIS’s international cricket director
New type of pitches are hybrid and are a combination of natural turf and synthetic fibres .
These pitches include only 5% of synthetic fibres with 95% natural turf only . Synthetic fibre gets injected into the natural surface .
These pitches have better durability and consistent playability of matches . These pitch maintain quality playing conditions . It also reduce the strain and workload on the ground staff . The introduction of hybrid pitches in India is all set to make a remarkable place in the history of cricket
Primarily , Taylor is really looking forward to grab more projects in Mumbai and Ahmedabad .
ICC has approved and sanctioned hybrid pitches for T20s and ODIs and according to the plan these pitches will be used on England’s country cricket grounds .
Dissimilarities between hybrid pitches and natural ones
After the match the amount of renovation work is comparatively less which leads to less workload on staff of ground . This pitch proves to be three times more effective than the regular one .
When the match will proceed further it will be a challenge to recreate the different behavioral pattern that we see on a natural surface . The characteristics won’t change fundamentally and no one can control the pitch as per the need Taylor said . On the other hand he said one can control the characteristics on the hybrid one as they don’t change elementally . Amount of moisture can be controlled that goes into the pitch .
