List of Deputy Chief Ministers of Punjab: The post of Deputy Chief Minister is not constitutional. It is equivalent to the rank of a Cabinet Minister in the state.

He or she enjoys the perks and pay that a cabinet minister is entitled to. In undivided Punjab, there used to be deputy ministers, state ministers, and cabinet ministers. In 1966, Haryana was carved out of Punjab as a separate state.

Besides the general administration in a state government, the two top portfolios namely vigilance and home remain generally with the Chief Minister. Also, the power of transfer-postings of Class I officers solely lies with the Chief Minister. The Deputy CM gets a portfolio or two generally as any other cabinet minister. It is said that the actual importance of deputy CM depends a lot on the portfolio that is allocated to him or her. Also, the Deputy CM does not enjoy any specific financial power. He or she also holds the same financial powers as other cabinet ministers.

Brish Bhan was the only Deputy Chief Minister in the history of the PEPSU state. Post the partition of India, the Patiala and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU) was formed. On 15 July 1948, it was inaugurated and was formally designated as a state in 1950. The PEPSU was mostly merged with East Punjab following the States Reorganisation Act, 1956. East Punjab was formed in 1947 and was renamed Punjab in 1950.

For the first time in September 2021, two persons namely Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Om Parkash Soni appointed as Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab under Charanjit Singh Channi.
