List of 100 Cities with Highest Crime Rates in America, Crime Rates Statistics by City

The enormity of the United States often finds itself in the spotlight, with reports intermittently surfacing regarding criminal activities spanning its vast territories. Criminality, however, defies singular attribution, instead manifesting across diverse spectrums. Classically, crimes are categorized into significant delineations, encompassing violent acts, property infringements, white-collar malfeasance, organized illicit enterprises, and consensual transgressions.

Each classification harbours a multitude of specific transgressions. For instance, under the umbrella of violent crime, one encounters the grim realities of homicide, aggravated assaults, simple assaults, sexual violations, and robberies. Meanwhile, property crimes entail a range of infringements such as burglary, larceny, motor vehicle theft, and arson.

This discourse opts to explore crime rates through the lens of violent and property crime categories sans hierarchical ranking, thereby sidestepping potential sensitivity.  Pertinent to note that the immediate data for the year 2024 is not available and thus the list will be updated immediately after the data is updated.

Population figures are derived from U.S. Census estimates for the conclusion of the year. The tally of homicides encompasses instances of nonnegligent manslaughter. It's important to note that this list is contingent upon reporting. While typically the city and the reporting agency align, exceptions exist, as observed in locales like Charlotte, Honolulu, and Las Vegas, where the reporting agency may encompass multiple municipalities. Notably, murder stands as the sole statistic mandated for reporting across all agencies. Hence, discrepancies may arise when certain components are absent, leading to adjustments where necessary to maintain integrity, including the adjustment of totals to zero when data is missing.
