Punjab is bordered by Pakistan on the Western side, the Indian states of Jammu & Kashmir on the Northern side, Himachal Pradesh on its North - East and Haryana & Rajasthan on its South. The capital of Punjab is located in Chandigarh. It is a Union Territory & also the capital of Haryana. The term Punjab encompasses 2 words namely "punj meaning five” and “ab meaning water”. Thus, Punjab is referred to as the land of 5 rivers. The population of Punjab was 27,743,338 as per Census 2011.
