Malaysia flight MH370: The World's Greatest Aviation Mystery! How did scientists solve the mystery of its disappearance?

Australian scientist Vincent Lyne claims to have identified the “perfect hiding place” for the missing MH370 plane in a deep trench within the Broken Ridge in the southeastern Indian Ocean. Lyne's findings indicate that the mystery of MH370's disappearance may have a scientific solution, pointing to a deliberate act by the pilot.

Like any other day, the pilots were ready to take off into the clear blue sky, and the whole crew onboarded 239 passengers on the flight. It was scheduled to fly from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China.

However, the flight never made it to its destination as it mysteriously disappeared from radar and communication shortly after takeoff. The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 on March 8, 2014, remains one of the greatest aviation mysteries in history.

The “Perfect Hiding Spot” for MH370 Found, Says Australian Scientist

On March 8, 2014, the MH370 flew from Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia to Beijing Capital International Airport in China. The flight disappeared from radar screens about an hour after takeoff, sparking a massive search effort that lasted for weeks.

After its disappearance, many scientists and officials tried to determine the cause of the disappearance, with theories ranging from mechanical failure to deliberate action by the pilot.

Despite the efforts, no traces were found in the Indian Ocean's 120,000-square-kilometre (46,000-square-mile) search area, prompting the suspension of the Australian-led search—the largest in aviation history—in January 2017.

However, Tasmanian researcher Vincent Lyne claimed to have solved the mystery of MH370's disappearance. According to one of his Likedin posts, the plane was deliberately crashed into the Broken Ridge in the Indian Ocean.

"This work changes the narrative of MH370’s disappearance from one of no-blame fuel starvation at the 7th arc, high-speed dive, to a mastermind pilot almost executing an incredible, perfect disappearance in the Southern Indian Ocean," he wrote in the post.

Further, he wrote in the post, "In fact, it would have worked were it not for MH370 ploughing its right wing through a wave and the discovery of the regular interrogation satellite communications by Inmarsat—a brilliant discovery also announced in the Journal of Navigation."

"We now know very precisely that MH370 is where the longitude of Penang airport (the runway no less) intersects the Pilot-in-Command home simulator track discovered and discarded by the FBI and officials as "irrelevant."

That pre-meditated iconic location harbours a very deep 6,000-meter hole at the eastern end of the Broken Ridge within a very rugged and dangerous ocean environment renowned for its wild fisheries and new deep-water species. With narrow, steep sides, surrounded by massive ridges and other deep holes, it is filled with fine sediments—a perfect “hiding” place," he stated in the post.

He said, "That location needs to be verified as a high priority. Whether it will be searched or not is up to officials and search companies, but as far as science is concerned, we know why the previous searches failed, and likewise, science unmistakably points to where MH370 lies. In short, the MH370 mystery has been comprehensively solved in science."

Theories and Conspiracies Surrounding MH370

There are many theories surrounding the MH370. However, some of them are mentioned below, which are considered the most plausible explanations for the disappearance of the plane.

  • Hijacking: The most widely accepted theory suggests that the plane was hijacked, possibly by the crew or passengers.
  • Deliberate Crash: Some believe the plane was deliberately crashed, either by the crew or due to a system failure.
  • Mechanical Failure: A mechanical malfunction could have led to the plane's disappearance.
  • Pilot Error: Human error, such as a mistake by the pilot or co-pilot, could have been a contributing factor.
  • Suicide: Some speculate that the pilot or co-pilot intentionally crashed the plane.

  • Alien Abduction: A more outlandish theory suggests that the plane was abducted by aliens.
  • Bermuda Triangle: Some connect the disappearance of MH370 to the mysterious Bermuda Triangle.
  • Black Hole: A more speculative theory posits that the plane entered a black hole or another dimension.
  • Remote Island or Ocean: Some believe the plane landed on a remote island or in the ocean, potentially avoiding detection.
  • Military Base: Theories suggest the plane was diverted to a secret military base, possibly in a remote location.
  • Communication System Failure: A catastrophic failure of the plane's communication systems could have prevented it from sending distress signals.
  • Cabin Pressure Issues: Problems with the cabin pressure system might have incapacitated the crew and passengers.
  • Fuel Exhaustion: Some speculate that the plane ran out of fuel and crashed.
  • Time Travel: A more fantastical theory suggests that the plane somehow entered a time warp or experienced time travel.
  • Parallel Universe: Some believe the plane may have entered a parallel universe.

The Mystery of MH370 May Finally Be Solved

According to Lyne, the missing aircraft may have been deliberately plunged into a 20,000-foot-deep "hole" within Broken Ridge, an oceanic plateau in the southeastern Indian Ocean.

In a LinkedIn post, Lyne proposed that the pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, intentionally directed the plane into the deep trench filled with underwater plateaus, volcanoes, and ravines, making it an ideal hiding spot. He suggested that the disappearance was not due to fuel starvation but rather a calculated move by a “mastermind” pilot aiming to make the aircraft vanish.

The Broken Ridge area, with its steep sides and fine sediments, provides an environment that could easily conceal the wreckage. Lyne believes the damage to the plane supports the theory of controlled ditching rather than a high-speed crash.

The exact location, Lyne says, aligns with a flight path previously traced from the pilot’s home flight simulator but which had been dismissed by investigators. He argues this spot—a deep 6,000-meter hole near the Broken Ridge—matches where the aircraft likely went down.

Researchers at Cardiff University also noted that MH370 was last located in the southern Indian Ocean and detected signals that could have been from the plane’s crash. Despite more than 30 pieces of suspected debris being found along African coasts and nearby islands, only three were confirmed to be from MH370.

A 2018 report into the disappearance concluded that the plane’s controls were likely manipulated to take it off course, but investigators could not determine who was responsible.

Vincent Lyne’s findings suggest that the disappearance of MH370 was a premeditated act, with the plane deliberately flown into a remote, deep area of the ocean that has made it nearly impossible to locate.

While further searches are up to officials and search companies, Lyne believes the science points unmistakably to where MH370 lies. The mystery that has puzzled the world for a decade may now have a scientific answer.
