AP Schools Closed till Class 9: The Andhra Pradesh Education Board has closed the schools for classes 1 to 9 due to a sudden spike in COVID-19 cases. On Monday, 19th April, the Andhra Pradesh Education Minister, Adimulapu Suresh announced and confirmed the closure of schools in the state. However, the Education Minister and the AP government has ruled out any chance of making any changes in the SSC (Class 10) and Inter (Class 12) examination time table. He further added that the SSC and Inter exams 2021 will be held as per schedule. The Inter exam is scheduled to begin from 5th May and the SSC exam will commence from 6th June 2021.
Speaking about the preparedness for the upcoming Board exams, the Education Minister said that all educational institutions have been asked to ensure strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols. He also added that regular COVID-19 testing is being done for teachers and students.
Statement of the State Education Minister
According to the latest statement of Andhra's Education Minister, "Precautions against COVID-19 are being taken in all schools. The department is reviewing the situation every day and COVID-19 tests of students are being conducted. The government will think of cancelling the exams if the number of cases increases in the forthcoming weeks. Stern actions will be taken on those educational institutions which will not follow guidelines.”
Many State Boards, CBSE and CISCE have already postponed or cancelled their board exams 2021. The schools, universities and various educational institutes are closed across the nation due to the COVID-19.
