According to media reports, the PIL filed in the Supreme Court for cancelling the class 12 board examination is likely to be heard soon. Even as many of the state governments have announced their decision to conduct the Class 12 examinations, the PIL has given hope to students who expect the exams to be cancelled. The CBSE, although not announcing it yet, has made it clear that the Class 12 exams are likely to be conducted in July 2021.
A Public Interest Litigation was filed in the Supreme Court last week seeking the cancellation of the pending class 12 examination including the CBSE, CISCE and the state boards. The court however being on vacation and the unavailability of CJIs the PIL was not listed for a hearing yet.
With the senior lawyers insisting the vacation bench has stated that it will issue directions to the registry to list the case under Urgency Applications before the Chief Justice of India.
State Government Support Class 12 Examinations
In a recently conducted meeting with the Union Defence Minister, Education Minister and the state representatives, the state governments have shared their feedback on the pending class 12 board examinations. Many of the state governments like Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Karnataka have shared their interest in conducting the state board class 12 examinations. With regard to the CBSE however, a final decision on conducting the class 12 examinations is expected to be made according to the Union Education Minister by June 1, 2021.
